Chloe Qisha’s debut mixtape ‘Fantasize’ delivers catchy, theatrical pop

Malaysian-British singer Chloe Qisha has released her debut mixtape, ‘Fantasize’.

The project follows her second EP, ‘Modern Romance’, and comes after she supported Coldplay, Sabrina Carpenter and RAYE.

Its songs mix theatrical pop with synth and disco sounds, while exploring desire, crushes and breakups.

Much of the mixtape leans into cheeky sexual innuendo, a shift from earlier songs about loss, insecurity and existential dread.

One song, ‘He Likes Boys’, follows Qisha’s feelings for a man who is not attracted to women, without making him the joke.

The review praises the project’s catchy songwriting but says some songs focus too much on jokes or an ex instead of showing more of Qisha’s inner life.

‘Fantasize’ shows her ability to make infectious pop, while leaving room for deeper personal detail in future work.
