Burgenland Energie offers residents stakes in solar and wind projects

Burgenland Energie is offering residents a way to invest in its solar and wind projects in the Austrian state of Burgenland.

The offer is open to adults in 31 municipalities where the company is building renewable-energy facilities.

Investors can buy solar panels and an economic share in wind farms, with packages starting at €500.

The company says investors will receive a fixed annual payment of 3% for five years, then get their purchase price back.

Burgenland Energie will operate, maintain and insure the facilities, and says it guarantees the payments, though financial risk is not fully ruled out.

The program supports the state’s goal of becoming energy independent by 2030; Burgenland says it has reached 75% independence so far.

The investment period is due to begin on 1 February 2027.
