CBI to review contracts handled by arrested Munitions India executive
India’s Central Bureau of Investigation is reviewing contracts handled by Anil Kumar, an executive director at state-run Munitions India Limited.
Kumar was arrested over allegations that he took bribes and shared sensitive information in exchange for favours to private contractors.
The CBI says the alleged bribes were linked to a ₹500 crore ammunition deal involving SMPP Limited.
SMPP’s chief executive Ashish Kansal and Kumar’s brother, B Harshvardhan, have also been arrested.
Investigators recovered ₹1.73 crore from Kumar’s home and another ₹50 lakh in searches in Mysuru, Bengaluru and Delhi.
The agency plans to seek contract files from the defence ministry and Munitions India to examine links between procurement decisions, vendors and payments.
