China’s import expo showcases about 30 medical innovations

The China International Import Expo opened its ninth edition in Shanghai on November 5, 2026.

Its medical innovation zone is presenting about 30 technologies and products from around the world, including work in cell therapy, lung monitoring and brain-computer interfaces.

The zone was established in 2021 and is intended to do more than display products: it connects innovators with investors and industry partners.

Overseas companies see China as an important market, but may need local partners to navigate cultural differences, build trust and address concerns about intellectual property.

Organisers and industry representatives say products are reviewed with experts, including clinicians, to assess whether they suit Chinese hospitals and patients.

The goal is to turn promising projects into commercial products and support cooperation between international and Chinese businesses.

The expo’s medical zone is expected to continue helping companies find partners and opportunities, though no specific deals or next steps are announced.
