Bagnaia to miss Qatar GP after sprint crash fractures right foot
Pecco Bagnaia broke two bones in his right foot in a crash during the Qatar Grand Prix sprint.
The two-time MotoGP champion collided with Gresini rider Fermin Aldeguer at Lusail after Aldeguer misjudged his braking while trying to pass Pedro Acosta.
The collision brought out a red flag, and the sprint was restarted without Bagnaia.
Bagnaia will miss Sunday's Qatar Grand Prix, while doctors assess the fractures to the fourth and fifth metatarsals in his foot.
Aldeguer received a double long-lap penalty in the restarted sprint and finished 11th.
Aldeguer apologised to Bagnaia and Ducati, but said he did not believe his move was unusually risky.
Further hospital tests will determine whether Bagnaia needs surgery, and his chances of racing again this season remain uncertain.
