Drone attack on Voronezh kills two and injures 17

A mass drone attack hit Voronezh and nearby areas overnight and early on October 26.

The Russian regional governor said air defences shot down 113 drones, including more than 70 over Voronezh itself.

Two men were killed and 17 people were injured, including a child.

Many of the injured, among them two people seriously hurt, were on a train in Voronezh’s left-bank suburbs when drone debris fell on it.

Falling debris also caused fires and damage at industrial sites, a business centre, an apartment building and other locations, while building fronts and windows were damaged across nearly all parts of the city.

The attack matters because it caused civilian deaths and injuries as well as widespread disruption and property damage.

Emergency services were working at the scene, and the regional governor said the drone attack risk remained in force after the immediate warnings were lifted.

The sources do not say what further action will follow.
