Stand My Ground targets Four Pillars prize at Randwick
Trainer Marc Chevalier is aiming Stand My Ground at the $500,000 Four Pillars Midway at Randwick on Saturday.
The four-year-old mare will be having her first race since finishing well back in the Australian Oaks at Randwick.
Chevalier chose a break and this race instead of continuing her campaign in Queensland, saying her rating suited the Midway event.
Stand My Ground previously finished fifth, less than a length behind the winner, in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes.
She will start from barrier 20, which could make the race harder, but Chevalier expects a strong pace to suit her staying style.
He hopes she can earn prize money now and gain black-type recognition in future races; he has mentioned several summer and holiday cups as possible targets.

What people are saying
I think she will actually be very, very competitive.
There wouldn’t be a benchmark 68 race in the world with that prizemoney, so for us Midway trainers, it’s just the race you want to target.
She needs strong pace, which I think we will get, being a big field, and we’ll probably make an early move, around the 600 and she’s just going to outstay them, I think.
The plan would be to get some black-type at some stage.
