Tigers pick up Drew Anderson’s option and decline Kenley Jansen’s

The Detroit Tigers picked up Drew Anderson’s $10 million option for next season and declined Kenley Jansen’s $12 million option.

Jansen will receive a $2 million buyout instead of returning under that deal.

Anderson, a right-handed pitcher, joined Detroit after four seasons in Asia and worked as both a starter and reliever.

He finished the season with a 3.67 ERA over 108 innings, including a 2.84 ERA in his final nine starts.

The Tigers will have Anderson compete for a rotation spot at spring training, while also considering him for relief work.

Detroit also re-signed right-hander Jacob Waguespack to a one-year deal, and made roster moves to open spots.

The team still needs to address its rotation and bullpen this offseason.
