One Health certification begins for organisations across Italy
One Health Foundation has launched a certification scheme across Italy for organisations that protect human, animal and environmental health.
The approach recognises that the health of people, animals and the environment is connected.
About 10 organisations across the country have already received accreditation, with their certificates presented at an event at the Health Ministry.
An independent scientific board assessed applications, and the scheme has three levels; the first-level Oriented certification requires organisations to meet 14 specific conditions.
The certification is intended to help people identify organisations working this way and to let those organisations show their work through documented actions.
The Foundation has signed agreements with the Health Ministry and Fiaso, the federation of Italian health and hospital organisations, and says it wants to build a network of accredited organisations that can work together; more applications have arrived.

The first certificates were presented at the Ministry of Health during a conference held ahead of World One Health Day on 3 November.

What people are saying
One Health must be translated into choices.
It aims both to enable citizens to identify organisations working in this direction and to allow organisations to demonstrate, through documented actions, what they are doing.
