Flamengo fans protest betting ban and 6x1 work schedule at Maracanã
Flamengo fans held protests at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday during a match against Fluminense.
Some signs opposed a ban on betting companies in Brazil, and Flamengo displayed the message “banning is not protecting” on its shirt and stadium advertising boards.
The campaign was backed by the Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming.
Other fans called for an end to the 6x1 schedule, in which workers work six days and have one day off.
The proposal to end that schedule has passed the lower house and a Senate committee, and Senate voting is expected to begin Wednesday.
