Turkey tests domestically developed high-speed train at 250 km/h
Turkey’s transport minister, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, rode a domestically developed high-speed train on the Ankara-Kırıkkale line during a test run.
The train, built by state-owned TÜRASAŞ, is designed to carry passengers at up to 225 kilometres per hour.
During testing it reached about 250 kilometres per hour, 10% above its planned service speed.
Uraloğlu said testing would be completed before the end of 2026, after which several months of certification are expected.
The train is reported to be 65% domestically made, and two train sets have entered production.
TÜRASAŞ is working with ASELSAN and TÜBİTAK, and plans to open a high-speed train factory in Sakarya by year-end.
Passenger service is expected after certification, though no start date was given.
