Iberdrola offers households up to €300 a year for shifting energy use

Iberdrola has launched a feature that automatically adjusts household heating, cooling and hot water use.

It is part of the company’s Smart Advanced Assistant and is initially for homes with compatible Airzone devices.

The system uses artificial intelligence to run equipment when electricity is cheaper, often when more renewable power is being generated.

Iberdrola estimates annual savings of €100 to €300, depending on the home and its energy use.

For a 100-square-metre home with four occupants, it estimates about €100 in savings with air conditioning and up to €300 with a heat pump.

Customers set the system’s operating limits, and Iberdrola says it can manage energy use without changing household habits or comfort.

The feature is intended to lower bills by shifting use to cheaper electricity; the company has not specified a broader rollout date.
