Experts discuss how AI could reshape universities at Shenzhen meeting

More than 100 experts gathered in Shenzhen for a university transformation meeting on November 1 and 2.

The fifth meeting focused on how artificial intelligence could reshape higher education.

Participants came from universities and other institutions, including Peking University and Chongqing University.

They said the changes needed go beyond updating courses and subjects, reaching how universities teach, assess students and make decisions.

Several speakers said education should put creativity and judgment first, rather than focusing only on finding correct answers.

They also discussed using AI across subjects and in university administration, while giving students more chances to identify real-world problems and develop ideas.

The meeting included two discussion sessions on personalized education and innovation in the AI era; no further actions were announced.
