Ricardo Arnaiz sees 20 more years of stories for Las Leyendas

Ricardo Arnaiz says he sees another 20 years ahead for Las Leyendas, the Mexican animated film franchise he created.

Its newest adventure, La venganza del Charro Negro, brings back the Charro Negro.

The series began with La leyenda de la Nahuala, which Arnaiz first imagined as a standalone film.

Over time, it grew into connected films and followed Leo and his companions as they matured.

Future films could explore characters’ origins and different periods of Mexican history, including stories shaped by Spanish and pre-Hispanic cultures.

Arnaiz also mentioned plans for a story about Teodora and the Villacencio family.

The planned stories draw on Mexico’s many local legends and traditions, which Arnaiz says can introduce these tales to both children and adults.

Continuing the franchise depends on maintaining the partnership with Ánima Estudios and keeping audiences interested.
