Masia VC closes €18 million fund with stakes in 45 start-ups
Barcelona-based Masia VC has closed its first fund at €18 million to invest in early-stage technology start-ups.
It has built a portfolio of 45 companies, with a focus on artificial intelligence and frontier technologies.
Masia typically invests about €200,000 alongside international funds in pre-seed and seed-stage businesses, especially those linked to Barcelona and business customers.
About 65% of the fund came from a group of around 70 start-up founders and angel investors, while Spain’s SETT and Barcelona City Council provided the other 35%.
The firm expects to make about 20 more investments between now and the end of next year.
It also opened a 1,000-square-metre headquarters in Barcelona’s Gràcia district, with workspace for its portfolio companies.
Masia plans a similar-sized second fund after the first completes its investment cycle in the second half of 2027.
