Power failure disrupts RER D service in Paris, then traffic returns to normal

A power supply failure disrupted Paris’s RER D early on 15 October.

From about 6:10 a.m., trains stopped in both directions between Gare de Lyon and Châtelet-les-Halles, while service elsewhere on the line was also affected.

The RER D connects Creil with Melun and Malesherbes and serves stations across the Paris region.

SNCF first announced a different affected stretch, between Gare de Lyon and Gare du Nord, before narrowing the interruption to the section ending at Châtelet-les-Halles.

The company extended its expected return to normal service to 9:30 a.m., and traffic was back to normal by 9:34 a.m.

Trains resumed gradually, with some held briefly to help restore service smoothly.
