Listeria cheese recall expands across German-speaking Switzerland
A Listeria recall of selected soft cheeses now covers German-speaking Switzerland after an older contaminated batch was found to have reached more stores.
The cheeses were made by Eberle Spezialitäten and Strähl Käse and sold through Migros, Coop, Volg and Lidl.
A separate notice identifies Strähl cream soft cheeses in Nature, Chili and Green Pepper varieties with use-by dates from 6 November to 4 December 2026.
Listeria can cause severe illness in newborns, young children, older people, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems.
The Swiss food safety authority advises customers not to eat affected products; anyone who has eaten them and is unsure what to do should consult a doctor.
Customers can return recalled cheese for a refund at the store where it was sold, and Lidl says a receipt is not needed for its affected products.
