Giants designate Reiver Sanmartin and decline Rowan Wick’s option
The San Francisco Giants designated Reiver Sanmartin for assignment, removing the left-handed reliever from their 40-man roster.
Sanmartin joined the Giants last offseason after they claimed him from Cincinnati, then missed the start of 2026 with a hip injury.
He later moved between the Giants and Triple-A, posting a 4.22 ERA over 21 1/3 innings.
The Giants also declined Rowan Wick’s $800,000 option, paying him a $100,000 buyout instead.
Wick missed the 2026 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery and has not pitched in the majors since 2022.
He remains on the roster and eligible for arbitration for now, but the Giants may decide in a couple of weeks whether to offer him a contract.
The Giants have five days to trade or waive Sanmartin.
