Airbus holds 2026 delivery target despite weaker third quarter

Airbus, the world’s largest aircraft maker, still expects to deliver about 870 passenger planes in 2026, slightly more than its previous record of 863 in 2019.

In the third quarter, deliveries slowed after technical problems affected the A330neo and A321neo, and the company said the A321neo issue was not a safety problem.

Airbus’s revenue fell 2% to nearly €17.5 billion, while operating profit dropped 9% to nearly €1.8 billion.

The company’s net profit rose by a fifth to more than €1.3 billion, helped by one-off effects.

Chief executive Guillaume Faury said Airbus still expects adjusted operating profit of about €7.5 billion for the full year.

A backlog of more than 9,300 aircraft gives the company orders for over ten years, but suppliers have struggled to provide parts quickly enough to meet demand.

Airbus says it now has enough components to meet its 2026 goals, while high fuel costs remain a challenge for airlines.
