Japan’s Short-Sleeper Association Dissolves and Ends New Enrolments

Japan’s Short-Sleeper Association Dissolves and Ends New Enrolments

The Japan Short Sleeper Development Association dissolved on September 30, according to a notice published in Japan’s official gazette on October 26.

The Tokyo-based group was led by businessman Daisuke Hori, who has said he sleeps 30 minutes a day.

It sold a sleep improvement program and had recently charged 165,000 yen for a two-month course.

The association promoted short sleep, but people’s sleep needs differ and the program’s effects were debated.

Hori said on October 24 that new enrolments in the program have ended.

He said services will continue for existing participants who want to stay enrolled, while Japan’s health ministry recommends adults get at least six hours of sleep.
