Two workers die in school construction site collapse in Gronau
Two construction workers died when concrete stair sections collapsed at a school building site in Gronau, in northwestern Germany.
The accident happened around midday on Thursday at the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium.
Workers were lifting prefabricated stairs by crane into a shaft, and sections for several floors had already been installed.
Two other people were injured, but their conditions were not known.
Investigators have not established whether a stair section fell from the crane or the structure collapsed, and police are looking into the accident.
The workplace safety authority is also involved, and emergency crews, including firefighters and ambulance teams, responded.
