Severstal raises steel and pig iron output 2% in first nine months
Russian steelmaker Severstal increased steel and pig iron production by 2% in the first nine months of 2026.
The company produced 8.24 million tons of steel and 8.47 million tons of pig iron.
The gains followed a low production base last year, when major repairs affected output.
Metal product sales were almost flat at 8.26 million tons over the nine-month period.
In the third quarter, metal sales fell 9% as the company shifted semi-finished products toward making finished goods, adding to inventories.
Sales of higher-value products also fell, mainly because demand for large-diameter pipes was weak and a production line was being upgraded.
Severstal’s results show output rising while some product sales remain under pressure.
