Teenage boxer died after taking ketamine and other drugs, inquest hears

Calum Naylor, an 18-year-old boxer from Islington, died in hospital on December 7, 2024, after a night out in London.

The inquest heard that he had been drinking and taking drugs with workmates and friends before going to a house party in Notting Hill.

At the party, he drank vodka and snorted ketamine after already appearing heavily intoxicated.

Friends found him unresponsive the next morning, and an ambulance took him to hospital.

Senior coroner Fiona Wilcox warned about ketamine’s dangers, saying there was no safe “little bit” of the drug.

Ketamine is a Class B drug, and the inquest heard that around 270,000 people use it in England and Wales.

The coroner’s warning highlights concerns about young people’s drug use, but no further action is stated.
