BTS drew 1,500 fans to its first Brazil event in 2014

BTS held its first Brazil event in São Paulo on August 1, 2014, a year after the group debuted.

The seven members were still new, and about 1,500 fans attended the fan meeting, far fewer than the roughly 250,000 people at three sold-out shows in São Paulo this week.

Fan Isabela N. says the queue was calm, but the crowd inside became so packed that people struggled to breathe and some fainted or stumbled.

The event mixed songs from the group's first two albums with games and audience interactions, while fans sang along in Korean and brought gifts.

The meeting showed how BTS was building a fan base beyond South Korea, including through social media and overseas performances.

The group returned to Brazil the following year for its The Red Bullet tour, which drew about 6,000 people.

We have only been active for a year, and we thought no one would come to the fan meeting, so we are shocked by the number of fans who came today.

What shocks me most when I think about this fan meeting today is that they picked about five fans to go on stage and play with them.
