716 rural homes cleared for contracting in three Brazilian states
Brazil’s Cities Ministry has cleared 716 rural homes for contracting under the federal Minha Casa, Minha Vida Rural program.
The homes are part of 16 proposals across Maranhão, Piauí and Rio Grande do Sul.
Maranhão will receive 620 homes, Piauí 50 and Rio Grande do Sul 46.
The program supports the construction or improvement of homes for rural families, including family farmers, rural workers and traditional communities.
The homes are approved for contracting, not reported as completed; the Caixa Econômica Federal handles the review and operation of contracts.
Eligible projects are submitted by public bodies or nonprofit organizations, and the program aims to expand housing in rural areas.
The broader Minha Casa, Minha Vida program has contracted more than 2.7 million homes nationwide and aims to reach 3 million by the end of 2026.
