South Korea selects 21 firms for export support program

South Korea’s trade insurer selected 21 firms for its Export Growth Planet program.

The program is designed to help small and midsize companies grow into global exporters.

Support is tailored to each firm’s export level, with tiers for companies exporting up to $1 million, $30 million or $100 million a year.

Benefits include special export credit guarantees of up to 10 billion won, discounts of up to 90% on insurance and guarantee fees, and free credit checks on foreign companies.

The program can cover 100% of export financing guarantees and keep guarantee limits unchanged for three years, easing some costs and risks for firms.

Since the program began in July 2024, 64 previously selected firms have received trade insurance worth a combined 2.8 trillion won.

The insurer says it will help members find overseas opportunities and strengthen their export competitiveness.
