Ocarina of Time Remake Reaches Metacritic’s Highest User Rating

Ocarina of Time Remake Reaches Metacritic’s Highest User Rating

The Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo Switch 2 has a 9.6 Metacritic user rating, the highest currently on the site.

The game was released on November 5, and more than 3,900 users had rated it at the latest check.

Its user score is higher than those for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Silent Hill 2, while its average critic score is 96, below the original Nintendo 64 game’s 99.

Players have praised the remake’s updated graphics and controls, though some say its changes make the gameplay too easy.

Some users also object to the lack of a Master Quest mode, which would have offered a tougher challenge.

Unusually many zero scores appeared, alongside accusations of generative AI use and complaints about the amount of new content.

Metacritic can remove submissions it considers deliberate attempts to lower a score, and social media users said at least 30 to 40 ratings had disappeared.

The 9.6 rating may still change as more users submit reviews.
