Houthis claim missile strike on Saudi Arabia’s largest oil refinery
Yemen’s Houthi group said it struck Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura refinery on Tuesday with a ballistic missile.
The group’s spokesperson said the missile caused a fire, but Saudi authorities have not confirmed the attack.
A fire near the oil terminal was contained earlier that day, according to a report citing a person familiar with the matter.
Ras Tanura is Saudi Arabia’s largest oil refinery, on the Gulf west of the Strait of Hormuz.
The site matters because Saudi Arabia sends nearly all its oil exports through two ports, Ras Tanura and Yanbu; the Houthis have attacked Yanbu before.
The claimed strike comes as Houthi attacks on Saudi territory intensify amid the wider US-Israeli war on Iran, but no further steps related to the refinery were stated.
Yemen’s Houthi group said it launched a ballistic missile attack on Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura oil refinery on Oct. 27.
The group’s military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said the missile caused a fire at the site.
Saudi authorities have not confirmed the attack.
