Some iPhone Duo owners report cracked inner screens at the hinge

Apple's new foldable iPhone Duo went on sale on October 23.

Some early owners in the United States, Australia and China say the inner screen cracked along the hinge, where the phone folds.

One Australian owner said the screen broke after fewer than 20 folds and about six hours of use.

Apple replaced that phone in an Apple Store, though another replacement option involved a hold for the phone's full price and no delivery timeframe.

Similar-looking cracks have appeared in photos shared online, but the cause and scale remain unclear.

The reports raise concern about a possible problem with the first-generation device, but do not establish a wider design flaw.

More owners are expected to receive the phone, and Apple may examine damaged devices to investigate what went wrong.
