Ohio State Keeps Freshman Luke Fahey as Starting QB Against Oregon
Ohio State will keep freshman Luke Fahey as its starting quarterback for Saturday’s game against Oregon, coach Ryan Day said.
Fahey made his first career start against USC last week, completing 21 of 38 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown, but Ohio State lost 30-18.
Fahey took over after Julian Sayin injured his throwing arm in an Oct.
17 game against Indiana, and Sayin remains out indefinitely.
Day said Fahey showed toughness and command, while also making mistakes expected of a young player.
Against USC, Ohio State reached the red zone four times but scored only one touchdown, and Fahey struggled with passes near USC’s end zone.
Day says Ohio State must do more around Fahey to help him succeed.
Ohio State has two losses and fell to No.
11 in the AP Top 25, so its margin for error is small as it pursues its goals.
