Christiane Amanpour to leave CNN after 43 years

Christiane Amanpour will leave CNN in June 2027, ending a 43-year career at the network.

The 68-year-old Iranian-British journalist is CNN’s chief international anchor and has reported from conflicts and crises including the Gulf War and the Bosnian War.

Her daily CNN and PBS shows are set to end, though accounts differ on exactly when her CNN schedule changes; her CNN International programme is expected to continue weekly through May 2027.

She will also end her PBS programme, Amanpour and Company, at the end of 2026.

Amanpour plans to continue her podcast, The Ex Files, with her former husband, James Rubin, and says she is looking forward to new projects.

Her departure comes as CNN enters new ownership, after Skydance completed its takeover of Warner Bros.

Discovery, bringing CNN and CBS News under one company.
