Mexico City court opens second case against alleged La Unión Tepito member

A Mexico City judge opened a second criminal case against Rogelio “N” on October 16, over alleged aggravated extortion.

Prosecutors accuse him of demanding money from a toy shopkeeper in the city’s Centro district.

The shopkeeper says he demanded 100,000 pesos in March, hit her when she tried to record him and took 5,000 pesos; later demands reportedly followed.

Authorities describe Rogelio “N” as an alleged member of La Unión Tepito, a criminal group operating in Mexico City.

He was already facing a separate case over alleged drug dealing and carrying a firearm, and has been in preventive detention since his arrest in September.

He remains in custody as both investigations continue.
