Bronx man completes five-month walk to San Francisco, then has belongings stolen

Bronx resident Chantz Rivera walked across the country for five months, covering up to 2,500 miles.

He left home on May 31 and reached the Golden Gate Bridge on October 27.

After sleeping at Golden Gate Park, he went to a McDonald’s, where he briefly left his shopping cart unattended.

Someone stole his portable charger and survival kit from the cart, but Rivera said he still had the memory card and USB drive containing his videos and photos.

The theft left him frustrated and exhausted, but he continued exploring San Francisco.

Rivera, 29, shares his travels online and says he averages about 20 miles of walking a day.

He has started a fundraiser to replace the stolen items.
