SAG-AFTRA Extends Duncan Crabtree-Ireland’s Contract Through 2032

SAG-AFTRA’s board voted to extend Duncan Crabtree-Ireland’s contract as the union’s national executive director.

The weighted vote had 98.34% support, and the extension runs through June 20, 2032.

The union also added CEO to his title.

The extension will keep him in the role through the next round of negotiations with major studios, whose current deal with the union expires in June 2030.

Crabtree-Ireland has made artificial intelligence and performers’ rights a focus, including protections against unauthorized use of performers’ likenesses.

He was also a central figure in the 2023 actors’ strike.

SAG-AFTRA said the extension is intended to provide stability and continuity during disruption in the industry.
