Dampierre Castle put up for sale after owner’s death
Magali Calmon has put Dampierre Castle up for sale after the death of her brother Antoni, who owned it.
The castle is in the Aube region of France and is listed for €1.696 million.
Antoni bought the property at auction in 2021 for €675,000 and spent nearly €6 million restoring parts of it.
The work remains unfinished, with major repairs still needed on the main building.
Magali explored ways to keep the property in the family, but restoration and inheritance costs were beyond her means.
She says Antoni had asked her to sell the castle if anything happened to him, knowing it was his dream rather than hers.
The estate now needs a new owner willing to take on the continuing restoration project.
