Seoul Station Free Meal Center Completes Safety Improvements
The Seoul Station free meal center has completed safety upgrades after work that began in May and lasted about six months.
The E-Land Welfare Foundation worked with the Seoul Design Foundation on the improvements.
The center serves people including homeless people, residents of small single-room housing, older people living alone and people with disabilities.
The work followed universal design principles, which aim to make spaces safe and convenient for people of different ages and abilities.
Changes include non-slip surfaces and longer handrails, along with larger floor signs and repairs to the serving counter and meal-ticket machine stand.
Outside, workers made the entrance floor less slippery, repaired wall tiles and added the center’s colors and logo to the building and shutters.
The upgrades aim to reduce hazards for people with difficulty walking, and the facility work has now been completed.
