South Korea reports 158 cases of wildlife smuggling since 2020
Wild animals such as cobras and crocodiles have been smuggled into South Korea and sold.
From 2020 through July 2026, authorities recorded 158 wildlife-smuggling cases.
If these animals escape or are abandoned, they could spread disease or disrupt local ecosystems.
Shelters for seized or abandoned animals are already close to full.
