Poll finds violence and health are Brazil voters’ top concerns

Violence was the most-cited problem among Brazilian voters in a Datafolha poll, with 20% naming it.

Health ranked second at 18%, followed by the economy, including inflation and food prices, at 15%.

The poll asked 2,520 voters aged 16 or older on October 13 and 14 to name one problem without offering choices; its margin of error was two percentage points.

Concern about violence rose from 17% in July to 20%, the highest numerical level since 2023, while the reported changes in leading concerns remained within the margin of error.

The findings put security and health near the top of the presidential campaign, where candidates Lula and Flávio have both promised to reduce public health-system queues.

Flávio has backed tougher criminal penalties, while Lula has proposed stronger federal coordination on security; both candidates also support ending the 6x1 work schedule, though Flávio’s campaign has signaled it could change the proposal if he is elected.
