Turkey allows interim payments of up to 1 million lira to some fund investors

Turkey's new law covers unfinished liquidations of certain investment funds ordered by the Capital Markets Board, known as the SPK, on September 17, 2026.

The law took effect after publication and applies only to those funds whose liquidation was still incomplete at that time.

The SPK will oversee the liquidation process and set rules for valuing and selling assets, identifying investors and making payments.

If a fund's assets cannot cover investors' claims, the SPK may approve interim payments of up to 1 million lira per investor, subject to available funds and other limits.

The amount is calculated using investors' net contributions, adjusted for changes in consumer and producer prices, and will be deducted from their final claims.

The law also aims to recover assets taken from funds unlawfully and collect losses from those responsible.

Recovered money will be distributed to fund investors under procedures set by the SPK.
