BCCI urges state cricket associations to support differently-abled players
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has asked state cricket associations to support differently-abled cricketers across India.
He called on the associations to provide encouragement, assistance and opportunities for players to develop.
The request follows a decision at the BCCI’s annual meeting in Mumbai on September 18 to discuss ways to support these players.
Differently-abled cricket has been played in India for about 40 years, according to the secretary of the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India.
The aim is to widen participation and make cricket more inclusive, while giving players greater recognition and chances to develop their skills.
State associations are now being asked to take practical steps in their own areas, though no deadline was given.
