Alef’s flying car flies over Tesla Roadster in new video
Alef Aeronautics released a video of its flying car passing over a Tesla Roadster to welcome Tesla to what it calls the flying-car race.
The California startup says its vehicle can both drive on roads and fly, unlike an electric aircraft designed only for flight.
Alef says it has logged 1,000 flights and received more than 3,600 pre-orders.
The company’s Model A received a special airworthiness certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration in 2023, while the Roadster still needs FAA type certification.
Alef expects to deliver a limited first batch by the end of 2026 for testing under controlled conditions.
The company plans to increase production in 2027 and help train early customers.
The Model A is expected to start at $299,999, and Alef says flying cars will be tested in real-world settings as it develops the market.
