Marc Marquez wins Qatar sprint as Bezzecchi crashes and Martin takes third

Marc Marquez won Saturday’s Qatar MotoGP sprint after a clash with Marco Bezzecchi.

The incident happened as the two riders fought for the lead on lap four, and Bezzecchi crashed while Marquez stayed on his Ducati.

Race stewards investigated the contact and decided to take no further action.

Jorge Martin finished third despite a fractured wrist, after starting 11th and battling Marquez during the race.

Bezzecchi’s crash ended his mathematical chance of winning the championship, leaving Marquez and Martin as the remaining title contenders.

Marquez can secure the title in Sunday’s Qatar Grand Prix if he wins and Martin scores no points.

Martin said the longer race would be difficult, but planned to give it his best effort.
