Erdoğan outlines priorities for Turkey’s fund market investigation
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said authorities have brought a fund market problem under control.
He set out three priorities: repay investors, pursue alleged manipulation and protect capital markets.
Payments in ordinary liquidations have begun, while interim payments in extraordinary liquidations will start after a bill passes in parliament.
Erdoğan said investigations are continuing and those who made unfair gains should be held accountable.
He also warned against treating the problem as evidence that the whole market is criminal, saying capital markets help finance businesses and innovation.
Further payments depend on the proposed law passing, while the investigations continue.
