South Korean woman, 22, donates organs to help eight people

Jeon Su-yeon, a 22-year-old in South Korea, donated her organs to eight people after she became brain-dead.

She was taken to Chonnam National University Hospital after suddenly collapsing, but never regained consciousness.

Her parents agreed to donate her organs, following conversations in which the family had said they wanted to donate if something happened to them.

Jeon donated her heart, lungs, liver, both kidneys and both eyes; she also donated skin, according to one account.

She had hoped to become a nurse and was preparing for a nursing assistant qualification before later planning to attend university.

Her family said she had often put the needs of her older sister, who had been ill since childhood, ahead of her own.

The donation gave eight people a chance at new lives, while her family said they hoped her act of generosity would be remembered.
