‘The Undertaker’ Director Says He Defecated on Camera for Real
Thai director Thiti Srinuan says he defecated on camera for real in an earlier film, when he was a supporting actor playing a man described as crazy.
He said the production chose not to use a prop, and dozens of people watched the scene being filmed.
Srinuan shared the story at a film-industry event in Taipei while discussing how Taibaan Studio built a connected film universe rooted in Thailand’s northeastern Isan region.
He said realistic, familiar characters let the studio move them into different kinds of films, including ghost stories and romances.
The studio’s early films had small budgets, and online music-video earnings helped finance later films when investors were hard to find.
Srinuan’s 2023 film, “The Undertaker,” grossed more than THB700 million in Thailand and became the country’s highest-grossing film in nine years.
The franchise’s sequel arrived this year, and Srinuan also spoke about turning online content into theatrical films.
Director Thiti “Tongte” Srinuan said he defecated for real on camera in a scene from his early days as a supporting actor.
He shared a photo of the scene during a session at Taiwan Creative Content Fest in Taipei.
Srinuan said the production chose realism over a prop, but he initially struggled to perform while about 40 or 50 people watched.
He said the episode reflected Taibaan Studio’s commitment to realism, which helps its films draw on characters from the same village.
The session also covered how online music-video revenue helped finance films in the Taibaan universe.

What people are saying
I was a supporting actor, and I played a crazy person.
Because he’s crazy, he relieves himself wherever he likes.
Forty or 50 people were sitting there watching me, and I felt like I couldn’t go.
Believe it or not, after the first film, the second, third and fourth films were funded by what we built online.
