Gen Z shoppers in India use AI and personal touches for Diwali gifts
Gen Z shoppers in India are making Diwali gifts more personal, choosing items to match the recipient’s interests and lifestyle.
A study of 4,002 people aged 18 to 29 across 18 states found that one in four used AI for gift ideas.
The study also found that 74% bought gifts for parents and family, while around three in ten bought gifts for themselves.
Shoppers are drawn to homegrown brands and artisanal products, including healthier snacks and new takes on familiar Indian sweets.
They also want to know who made a product, where its materials came from and whether it will be useful.
This shift gives gifting businesses an opportunity to offer more tailored products and experiences, and quick-commerce services are seeing demand for last-minute deliveries.
