Higher one-off costs also contributed, including an accounting write-down linked to US subsidiary Alexza Pharmaceuticals, which Ferrer sold in late 2025.
Since 2018, Ferrer has been shifting from a broad range of products toward specialist hospital medicines, including treatments for lung and neurological conditions and rare diseases.
As part of that shift, it sold its food-ingredients business in 2025 and its non-prescription medicines division, including Gelocatil, in 2026.
Ferrer is pursuing future growth through its own drug development and has six clinical trials under way, including work with Prilenia Therapeutics on a Huntington’s disease treatment.
It ended 2025 with €280 million in bank debt and signed a €218 million syndicated loan due in six years.
