Real Madrid lose Theo Maledon and Mikael Jantunen to injuries
Real Madrid have two new injuries after Thursday’s EuroLeague win over Fenerbahce in Madrid.
French guard Theo Maledon sprained his right knee in the first quarter but stayed in the game and scored 26 points.
Finnish forward Mikael Jantunen suffered a complete tear of the plantar fascia in his left foot in the second quarter and left the court.
Jantunen’s recovery time is uncertain, though one report estimates nine to 12 weeks out.
Jantunen had been filling both forward and centre roles, while Maledon’s absence may mean more minutes for other guards.
The injuries add to an already stretched roster, which also includes Gabriel Deck, Nick Smith Jr. and Usman Garuba.
Madrid, on a 10-game winning streak and 6–3 in the EuroLeague, next host San Pablo Burgos on Sunday and play Panathinaikos on Wednesday.
