Haarlemmermeer woman loses more than €7,000 in bank impersonation scam

An 84-year-old woman in Haarlemmermeer lost more than €7,000 in a scam involving someone posing as a bank employee.

The caller claimed there had been a false bank transfer and warned that robbers were active in her neighbourhood.

The story put her under pressure, and she was persuaded to raise her bank limit to €20,000 and prepare her cards.

A young woman came to her home, gave a code agreed with the caller, and collected the bank cards.

Money was then taken out at several locations, and police are looking for the woman who picked up the cards.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact them, including anonymously through the named tip service.
