American Airlines plane from Barcelona bursts two tires on Chicago landing

An American Airlines flight from Barcelona burst two tires as it landed at Chicago O’Hare airport.

The Boeing 787 was operating flight AA41, carrying 234 passengers and 11 crew members.

The crew reported a possible brake problem before the tires burst after landing.

Passengers left the plane using stairs and were taken to the terminal; accounts differ on whether anyone was injured, as firefighters said one person was taken to hospital in good condition while the FAA said no injuries were reported.

The airline took the plane out of service for a maintenance inspection.

The FAA will investigate the brake problem and tire bursts to establish what happened.
